Sony and Apple Must Restore Consumer Confidence

Addressing the issue of privacy violation that is now being hit Sony and Apple, Viviane Reding of Justice and Human Rights Commission of the European Union, said that both companies must restore confidence in its users. As quoted from ZD.net, Wednesday (05/04/2011), when speaking in Brussels, Belgium, Viviane Reding of Justice and Human Rights Commission of the European Union declared that the two companies must be able to restore the confidence of users of their products. Those who are authorities in the two companies must be able to ensure protection of data or access to which is prohibited.

Reding's speech was read after a few days ago Sony announced approximately 100 million users account data from exposure to the public, after the network's PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment under attack from hackers. In addition, Apple also received a strong protest, because it discovered that the instruments track the location of the user. In response to these two cases, Reding said that the Sony was the one who felt the most difficult to restore a sense of trust from users. Even the CEO of Sony Corp., Howard Stringer, charged back for failing to tackle the problem.
